Penticton Triathlon Club

Monthly Meeting

February 7, 2007

Present:           Brad Lee, Craig Stephens, Richard Szabo, Sharon Otke, Kirk Vandeweghe, Catherine McLean, Ellis Andrews

Started 6:07 pm

  1. Richard reviewed minutes from January meeting.  The minutes are accepted as read.
  2. No financial report as we do not have a bank statement, which went to Jordy home.  Current balance is estimated was last at $3593.69.  Richard asked if we could get Jordy to send us the bank statements.
  3. Old Business:
    1. Seminar from January 18 was a resounding success with 34 people attending despite inclement weather.  On Tracey Pope’s wishes (in lieu of a gift to her), food was collected for the food bank.  The money collected totaled $34 and was donated to the food bank.
    2. Brad purchased a spinning DVD, entitled “Suffer-o-rama”, and is to be reimbursed.  The DVD is now in the possession of Melanie Stephens.  Craig expects that Melanie will be spinning on Thursday.
    3. No change in the newsletter.
    4. We have committed to pay $100 to $200 towards the storage of shared equipment with Peach Classic, Pounders and PCR.  Peach Classic has paid $200, PCR paid $200.
    5. Bare Bones Duathlon:  We are awaiting a choice on a new webpage to be designed.
    6. Website: Terri Taylor was contacted by Craig and will not be able to help with a website for the club.  Brad met with Dave to discuss how he would design a new website for the club.  We will review the PRCC design after the meeting.
  4. New Business
    1. We have a new club bank account at HSBC.  HSBC does not require all four signatories to be present at the same time to change signing authority after each AGM.  Chequebook has just arrived.  Two signatories need to write a cheque to transfer over the balance from BMO to HSBC.
    2. Seminars: Feb.21, for Kevin Cutjar and New Balance Dave Wilkins.  DRAW PRIZES will hopefully be included.  Following seminars will be an Orbea seminar from Brian McCoy and Tom Evans in late March (just before outdoor riding starts), followed by a sale at the Bike Barn.  Fourth is Dr. David Brooks on nutrition.  Brad has emailed David and copied Craig.  Craig will also see about a seminar from Nike from Michelle Rheaume, and a possibly swim seminar from Tina.
    3. On line registration for the duathlon is almost complete with Events on line.  Brad has a meeting with Kevin on Friday regarding the website, and possible use of Kevin’s webpage to start.
    4. Newletter:  Sharon has little time to edit and write.  We still require articles written quickly for the newsletter.  Brad has obtained a copy of a movie made by  Scott Trembly of his Ironman Hawaii experience.  If anyone has another story, please submit it to Sharon.
    5. We all viewed the PRCC website to get an idea of what the club website could be like.  Everyone liked it, thus we shall pursue Dave to make a new website for the club.

Meeting adjourned 7:20 pm.  Next meeting to be Mar.7.
