Penticton Triathlon Club
Monthly Meeting
December 7, 2006
Present:
Brad Lee, Richard Szabo, Jordy
Bouillet, Craig Stephens, Gord Spelay, Barb
Hanuszak
Started
6:05 pm
- Richard stated that
we did not have a November meeting, and moved ahead to finance report.
- Financial Report was
started by Barb as Jordy was not yet present. Barb has not yet met to transfer over the
books from Jordy. Brad has $750 from
club membership renewal ($570 cheque, $180cash) and the chequebook. We have to write cheques for AGM room
rental of $36.24 to Sharon, $872.69 to Brad for the banquet, $38.41 for
gifts to Gord (for Sharon/Simon).
- The Awards banquet
was better than we had expected, with 46 people attending. The cost to the club was $263.91 for
plaques, and $608.78 - $60 in cheques = $548.78 which was just above what
we usually spend on the banquet, of $500.
The use of Martini’s worked well to socialize, and to enjoy the
band for dancing. The food was
better than expected, and a good value.
The club charged $20 per ticket, which was the cost of the food,
but paid for one drink per attendee, and for the gratuities.
- Jordy arrived to
confirm that the club account was $3880.76 prior to the start of the AGM,
resulting in a balance, after tonight of $3593.42
- Old Business:
- Bare Bones
Duathlon: the run course has changed to 3 laps with transition based out
of the east parking lot in the Skaha Beach public parking
lot. The application for the race
has already been submitted on Nov.4.
The course looks to need fewer volunteers than previous years.
- Website: consider
purchasing the program Frontpage. Apparently
it is easy to use, such that a number of club members could maintain the
webpage, make it user friendly, and have people regularly use it.
- New Business
- Support for indoor
facility. The Penticton Soccer
Club has asked for support of an indoor facility that could include 3
lanes for running. It is agreed
that it is a good idea. We are unable to contribute money, but
will be able to send a letter of support.
- Seminars: Craig has
talked to Gray Taylor from Brooks for a seminar, which can include pizza
and a sale at PCR. The next idea
is to have an Orbea seminar from Brian McCoy and Tom Evans, also possibly
followed by a sale at the Bike Barn.
Third topic is from Tracey Pope. Fourth is Dave Brooks. Times were
discussed and good times were thought to be January / early spring. Also Blood Lactate testing from Kevin
Cutjar.
- Spinning workouts
can be organized at a variety of members houses. The club will check on workouts and DVD.
- Newletter: Sharon has little time to
edit and write. It will need to be
a case of cut and paste. Brad will
write a story on the Peach Classic, we have an Ironman story from Bobby
Krause, a DVD movie on Hawaii from Scott
Tremblay. We need a couple more
stories.
- Local news! IMC has a new record of 154 local
athletes registered. This is not
signed up, but actually registered and paid!! With this in mind, Brad will send out
an email to the registrants to join the club, and learn about seminars,
local jersey etc.
- Discussions started
between the Pounders, Peach Classic, Boston Pizza Jr. Tri, regarding
sharing of equipment as we may face a time soon when IMC will not store
equipment in Penticton.
- We must acquire or
buy a ledger to keep a copy of what cheque is written and for what
purpose.
- Other topics :
- Coaching has Brad, Jennifer,
Teresa, Simone and Joy expressed interest. The club is intent on helping some
members obtain certification.
8.
Missed discussion on gifts for sponsors for Christmas time.
Meeting
adjourned 7:40 pm
