Annual General Meeting
October 26, 2005
Penticton Community Centre, Started at 7:14 pm
Present were: Grant Nixon, Ellis Andrews , Ed Marbach, Brad Lee, Doreen Barr, Doug Fox, Brian Hodson, Sharon Otke, Richard Szabo, Catherine Mclean, Jordy Boulette, James Paliano
1. Review and acceptance of 2005 agenda – Doug Fox accepted and Richard Szabo seconded
2. Review 2004 minutes were read by Sharon accepted and seconded by Brian Hodson and Brad Lee.
3. Finance report from Richard $ 3960.07 See attached finance report for details.
4. Club mission statement – proposal, changes, vote.
Motion put forward by Sharon, Richard and Ed seconded. Motion to have the mission statement read as amended carried. See attached Mission Statement

6. Review of 2005 changes Discussion followed regarding following topics

Webpage, library, supported ride, non-running of
kids program (not enough Interest), travel reimbursements,
7. New ideas for 2006 * Details still to be worked out!
· Taking over or more involvement in Bare Bones Duathlon – Brad to update, anyone who knows they would be interested in assisting can let us know now if they can.
· Host a Try-a-Tri for beginners
· Organize a prediction run in conjunction with the Pounders, if they are interested
· Man an aid station for Peach City Marathon * Could a banner be created was brought up and Brad Lee will investigate*
· Arrange more organized and structured workouts We discussed planning a more structured workout on Saturday morning rides and a Wednesday afternoon ride for those who want more direction and structure. Brad and Sharon will work on setting up some workouts, and James has committed to being in charge for the Wednesday ride. One person (not decided who yet) will take on the Saturday morning ride. We could also do this same idea for the run on Sunday mornings. Also, we will also make some one-on-one sessions available for people who want to set up their own program to get started, or for people who just want more info on triathlon and training. Regular publicity via the newspaper, radio and posters will be used to get the word out.

look into advertising in the Western, community events section, and on the
radio to attract more interest from the general public.

Ellis is putting
together a list of local coaches, Drs, Nutritionists, Physiotherapists
Chiropractors ECT for members as a resource

James suggested
putting on clinics prior to long weekends to include people from other tri
clubs. See below for topics.
8. Seminar Schedule for 2006
Ed to arrange a lower limb seminar with Dr. Brooks,
· November 20, 2005 Stretching and Massage with Dale McLean $5 in advance, $10 at the door
· Swim Clinic with Tina Hoeben – more details and date to be announced (in new year)
· A Chiropractor’s view of Triathlon – From Experience with Carl Weber (in new year, TBA)

Treasurer Outgoing: Richard Szabo Incoming: Nominated: Jordy Boulette-accepted- Richard Szabo- Accepted. Vote was taken and Jordy Boulette got the majority vote
10. Christmas party details
Beer mile was mentioned for 4pm at Pen High Dec. 3rd.
· December 3, 2005 at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre. We need your nominations for awards. Dinner will be at 6:30 pm. Chris and Lisa Prowse’s band to start at 8:30 pm
Gord Spelay was not present therefore signing of a card for sponsors of the Ironman jersey was postponed! 13 club members will receive a $20 rebate for the locals jersey but none were present at the meeting.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:55 pm

Proposed Mission Statement
It is the goal of the Penticton Triathlon Club to encourage and develop participation in triathlon in the South Okanagan by:
Providing training opportunities
Gearing selected events towards the new triathlete
Providing some financial support to members traveling to World’s or National’s, or youth that show particular promise in triathlon
Providing a base of literature for members use
Mission Statement changed to read :
It is the goal of the Penticton Triathlon Club to encourage and develop participation in triathlon in the South Okanagan.
